The invention discloses a passenger sitting posture detection device, which comprises a seat and a control device, and is characterized in that the part, in contact with a passenger, of the seat is divided into a plurality of areas, each area is provided with at least one pressure sensor, and all the pressure sensors are in signal connection with the control device; the control device determines the sitting posture of the passenger according to the pressure instantaneous values detected by the pressure sensors in the different areas or the difference of the instantaneous values of the pressure sensors in the different areas. The invention further discloses a passenger sitting posture detection method based on the passenger sitting posture detection device. The sitting posture of the passenger can be judged.
