The present disclosure relates to an apparatus and method for controlling rear wheel steering, the apparatus including a sensor module configured to detect steering and driving information of a rear wheel steering vehicle; and a processor configured to instantaneously vary a desired yaw rate or turning radius by further adjusting a gear ratio between the front and rear wheels in response to the column torque and vehicle speed detected by the sensor module, thereby resulting in a more dynamic lateral control than previously possible.
