A vehicle-to-vehicle charging box and a method for direct current fast charging using the same are disclosed. The charging box performs a direct current fast charge (DCFC) session of a recipient by a supplier, for example during a vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) charging session, and includes: a portable housing; a disconnection device connected to a high voltage (HV) bus to connect or disconnect the respective inlet and outlet charging ports with or from the bus; and a plurality of direct current to direct current (DC-DC) converters. A high voltage to high voltage (HV-HV) converter is connected to the bus. An optional high voltage to low voltage (HV-LV) converter may be connected to the HV-HV converter. An optional low voltage (LV) energy storage device is connected to the housing and the HV-LV converter. A communication processing unit (CPU) establishes bidirectional communication between a supplier and a receiver. The system controller selectively pre-charges the bus, recharges the energy storage device, and selectively commands unloading of the DC charging current from the supplier through the HV-HV converter and to the recipient.
