The invention relates to a drive unit (13) for an actuating device (1) of a brake system (2), comprising a motor housing (14), an electric motor (15) arranged in the motor housing (14), a rotor (19) of the electric motor (15) being arranged non-rotatably in a motor shaft (20) which is rotatably mounted in the motor housing (14), and a planetary gear (23) which is rotatably mounted in the motor housing (14). The motor shaft (20) can be connected to or to an actuating element (3) of the actuating device (1) by means of a planetary gear train (23), the planetary gear train (23) having a rotatably mounted planet carrier (25), and the planet carrier (25) having an output shaft (27) and a carrier section (26) on which at least one planet gear (33) is rotatably mounted. According to the invention, the output shaft (27) and the carrier section (26) are produced independently of one another and are connected to one another in a rotationally fixed manner.
