The first detection module (100) to the Nth detection module (100) are electrically connected in sequence, each detection module (100) is configured to be electrically connected with a battery unit (2000), and the first detection module (100) is configured to be capable of outputting a first signal when any battery unit (2000) is abnormal when the battery management system (1000) is in a sleep mode. The switching circuit (200) is configured to be turned on in response to a first signal. The voltage converter (300) is configured to reduce the voltage output by the external power supply based on conduction of the switching circuit (200) and supply power to the controller (400) so as to wake up the battery management system (1000). As the detection modules (100) are electrically connected in sequence, when more battery units (2000) need to be connected in series in the energy storage system (1), only the detection modules (100) need to be correspondingly connected in series in the battery management system (1000), and the expandability of the BMS (1000) is improved.
