The invention relates to a method for determining a tire wear radius (LRH-1, LRH-2) of a vehicle (1), comprising the following steps:-introducing an asymmetric braking process (BV-a) on a steering axle of the vehicle (1) during travel (St1), a first braking force (26-1) being supplied to a first wheel of the steering axle, and a second braking force (24-1) being supplied to a second wheel of the steering axle during travel (St2); the first braking force is greater than a second braking force (26-2) supplied to the other wheel (VA-2) of the steering axle (St3),-determining a steering predetermined signal (LW) input by the driver or the vehicle system and a steering torque (LM) applied to the wheels of the braked axle (VA) (ST4) during the braking process (BV-a),-evaluating the asymmetric braking process (BV-a) as a function of the determined data (LW, LM, 26-1, 26-2), -ascertaining (St5) at least one sign (sgn (LRH-1), sgn (LRH-2)) of the grinding radius (LRH-1, LRH-2) of the at least first wheel (VA-1) as a function of the evaluation.
