The invention relates to a latching device (1) for connecting two components (4, 5) to one another, comprising: a first latching element (2) associated with a first of the components (4, 5), said first latching element having a housing part (20), a plug-in opening (200A, 200B) provided at the housing part (20), and a second latching element (3) associated with a second of the components (4, 5), 200A, 200B), at least one first engagement projection (243), and an adjustment element (24A, 24B) adjustably arranged on the housing part (20). The latching device (1) further comprises a second latching element (2) associated with a second one of the components (4, 5), said second latching element having an engagement element (31A, 31B) with at least one second engagement projection (310). The plug-in opening (200A, 200B) is delimited by at least one delimiting section (A1, A2) when viewed in a plane perpendicular to the closing direction (X), such that the engagement element (31A, 31B) can be inserted into the space (R) delimited by the at least one delimiting section (A1, A2) in order to close the latching device (1). In the first position, the active section of the adjusting element (24A, 24B) is arranged outside the space (R) in order to allow the engagement element (31A, 31B) to be inserted into the space (R). When the first locking part (2) and the second locking part (3) are assembled on one another, the adjusting element (24A, 24B) can be transferred from a first position into a second position, so that in the second position, the action section is arranged in the space (R) when viewed in a plane perpendicular to the closing direction (X), and in the second position, the action section is arranged in the space (R) when viewed in a plane perpendicular to the closing direction (X). In order to establish or ensure an engagement between the at least one first engagement projection (243) and the at least one second engagement projection (310) in order to hold the first catch (2) and the second catch (3) against each other counter to the closing direction (X).
