The invention is suitable for the technical field of spatio-temporal data mining, and provides a taxi supply and demand imbalance road section detection method, which comprises the following steps: extracting a GPS data entry sequence corresponding to each license plate number from a taxi GPS original data set according to a time sequence; determining a taxi supply point and a taxi demand point according to all the GPS data item sequences; determining correction points of the taxi supply points and the taxi demand points in the urban road network; finely dividing the urban road network to obtain a final urban road network; taking a road section with the taxi renting demand correction point in the final urban road network as a seed road section, and expanding the seed road section along the final urban road network in an iterative optimization mode to obtain a plurality of candidate taxi supply and demand imbalance road sections; and carrying out significance test by using a Monte Carlo simulation method, and taking the candidate taxi supply and demand imbalance road section passing the significance test as the taxi supply and demand imbalance road section. According to the invention, the accuracy of taxi supply and demand imbalance road section detection can be improved.
