The invention relates to the technical field of vehicle range extending control, and discloses a control method and device for a vehicle range extender, electronic equipment and a storage medium, and the method comprises the steps that when a working instruction of the range extender is detected and a catalytic converter needs to be heated, a torque control instruction is sent to a generator controller of the range extender, controlling an engine of the range extender to start rotating through a generator controller based on the torque control instruction; and if it is detected that the engine is successfully ignited, the rotating speed control instruction is sent to a generator controller of the range extender, and the rotating speed of the engine is controlled through the generator controller based on the rotating speed control instruction. Therefore, the torque and the rotating speed of the engine are controlled through the generator controller, the rotating speed jitter of the engine can be small in the catalytic converter heating period, exhaust emission can be reduced, and the ignition advance angle of the engine can be further reduced and/or the air-fuel ratio of the engine can be further increased.
