The method comprises the steps that brightness compensation information of a to-be-controlled instrument screen and an initial brightness level input by a user are obtained; wherein the brightness compensation information is used for representing whether brightness compensation needs to be carried out on the instrument screen to be controlled; the initial brightness level is used for adjusting the brightness of the instrument screen to be controlled and the brightness of a vehicle machine display screen of a vehicle where the instrument screen to be controlled is located; if the brightness compensation information represents that brightness compensation needs to be performed on the instrument screen to be controlled, adjusting the initial brightness level according to the brightness compensation information to generate a target brightness level, otherwise, determining the initial brightness level as the target brightness level; and performing control processing on the instrument screen to be controlled according to the target brightness level. The control accuracy of the instrument screen can be improved.
