The invention provides an automatic positioning system and method for a station track of a starting train, and the system comprises at least one group of satellite receiving antennas, and a first satellite receiving antenna and a second satellite receiving antenna in the same group are respectively in signal connection with different satellite navigation constellations; the vehicle-mounted ATP is provided with an electronic map and at least one satellite signal receiver, the satellite signal receiver is provided with a first satellite navigation chip and a second satellite navigation chip, and first differential positioning information and second differential positioning information are obtained through a first satellite receiving antenna and a second satellite receiving antenna correspondingly; the vehicle-mounted ATP prepositions the station track where the starting train is located based on the first differential positioning information, the second differential positioning information and an electronic map, and judges whether the prepositioning result is effective or not; the CTC system is used for sending departure station track information to the vehicle-mounted ATP; and the train-mounted ATP automatically positions the station track of the starting train based on the departure station track information and the pre-positioning result.
