A propulsion assembly (100) for a multi-engine hybrid aircraft, the propulsion assembly comprising: a first gas turbine (10) and a second gas turbine (20), each having a gas generator (12, 22) and a free power turbine (11, 21); a main rotor (62) coupled to the free power turbines (11, 21) of the first main coupling means (51) and the second main coupling means (52); a first reversible electric machine (30) and a second reversible electric machine (40), each coupled to the gas generator (12, 22) via a first deactivatable coupling device (31, 41) and each coupled to the main rotor (62) via a second deactivatable coupling device (32, 42), the first deactivatable coupling device (31, 41) being activated when the electric machine (30, 40) is rotated in the first direction of rotation, and the second deactivatable coupling device (32, 42) being activated when the electric machine (30, 40) is rotated in the second direction of rotation. When the motor (30, 40) rotates in a first rotation direction, and when the motor (30, 40) rotates in a second rotation direction opposite to the first rotation direction, the second deactivatable coupling device (32, 42) is activated.
