The present invention is a damping coefficient control device (10) applied to a damper of a vehicle (20) provided with: a wheel (12) that is supported so as to be rotatable about a rotation axis (24) and that has a tire (26); and a drive system (14) that drives the wheels via a transmission device (30) by means of an engine (28) as a drive source, the damping coefficient control device is provided with a damping coefficient variable damper (18) disposed between the wheel frame and the vehicle body, and a control device (44) that controls the damper, and the control device acquires information indicating an index of the equivalent moment of inertia (IP) of the drive system (14), and controls the damping coefficient variable damper (18). The damping coefficient of the shock absorber is controlled so that the damping coefficient (C) of the shock absorber becomes larger as the equivalent moment of inertia indicated by the index becomes smaller.
