The visual following device comprises an image acquisition module, a central processing unit module, an execution module, a data transmission module and a head movement acquisition and binocular display module; according to the visual following device, a shooting view field of a binocular camera is selected according to angle data in a head motion state, the binocular camera is adopted to shoot an operation environment of the gantry crane, and a field video is transmitted to a binocular display module at a far end through a network, so that the binocular camera follows the head to move. The method can be applied to the field of gantry crane control, and the man-machine interaction capability of major technical equipment can be improved.
