The invention discloses a power generation system for a ship, which comprises a diesel engine, a plurality of oil extraction machines form a diesel engine set, and the diesel engine set is used for providing a main power source for the ship and generating alternating current; the plurality of rectifiers are respectively connected to each diesel engine and are used for respectively converting alternating current generated by the plurality of diesel engines into direct current and integrating the converted direct current into the direct current bus frequency conversion control device; the direct current bus frequency conversion control device is used for receiving the direct current output by the rectifier and performing frequency conversion control on the direct current so as to adapt to power requirements of different ship equipment and systems; the inverter is connected to the direct-current bus frequency conversion control device and used for converting the direct current of the direct-current bus frequency conversion control device into alternating current again and outputting the alternating current to the main propulsion motor; and the main propulsion motor receives the alternating current output by the inverter and pushes the ship to advance by driving a propeller.
