A system for deadlock prevention and prevention in an autonomous vehicle (AV) includes an AV having an actuator and a sensor. An actuator changes the dynamic state of the AV, and a sensor captures vehicle state and environmental information. The system receives vehicle status information and predicts a main AV trajectory and a trajectory of other vehicles approaching, entering, or within an intersection. Multi-direction conflict identification (MDCIPD) messages and vehicle status information for each driving direction are transmitted to a cloud computing device. A wait relationship for preventing deadlock is based on the MDCIPD message and the vehicle status information, and a deadlock prevention notification (DPN) and/or a deadlock prevention coordination instruction (DPCI) is generated. The AV implements an advanced driver assistance system (ADAS) function via an actuator in response to the DPN and/or the DPCI and prevents the AV from deadlocking at the intersection.
