An unducted thrust generating system has a rotating element with an axis of rotation and a stationary element. The rotating element includes a plurality of blades, and the stationary element has a plurality of vanes configured to cause a change in the tangential velocity of the working fluid that is opposite a change in the tangential velocity of the working fluid upon which the rotating element acts caused by the rotating element. The system includes an inlet forward of the rotating element and the stationary element.
