The method comprises the steps that when an engine of a vehicle runs again after being shut down, the target shut-down time of the engine is obtained; if the target downtime exceeds a set threshold value, a target torque reserved value of the engine is determined according to the cooling liquid temperature of the engine; wherein the target torque reserved value is in negative correlation with the cooling liquid temperature; and the current torque reserved value of the engine is controlled to be adjusted to the target torque reserved value. By means of the arrangement, when the temperature of the cooling liquid is low, a high torque reserved value can be set for the engine, so that the gas displacement of the engine is large, the temperature of the catalytic converter can be increased more quickly, the conversion efficiency of exhaust pollutants is improved, and the risk that the exhaust pollutants exceed the standard is reduced. Moreover, when the temperature of the cooling liquid is high, a low torque reserved value can be set for the engine, so that the ignition angle of the engine can be close to the optimal ignition angle, and a better fuel economy effect is obtained.
