A method of operating a flexible display system, particularly for use in a vehicle, the method comprising: receiving a plurality of contextual data items, where each of at least a subset of the contextual data items is indicative of one or more of a plurality of contextual categories of the flexible display system; determining a primary context category among the plurality of context categories based at least in part on the plurality of context data items; determining a primary user response state for the primary context category based at least in part on the primary context category and the plurality of context data items; the method further includes determining an associated position of at least one flexible display unit of the flexible display system based on the primary context category and the primary user response state, and generating a control signal for output to the at least one flexible display unit based on the determined associated position, the control signal is configured to control a variable position of the flexible display unit according to the determined associated position.
