The invention provides a vehicle upper structure capable of avoiding rigidity reduction caused by deformation due to thermal expansion difference. The vehicle upper structure includes: a roof panel provided in an upper portion of a vehicle body and made of aluminum; a roof rail provided on the outside of the roof panel in the vehicle width direction and extending in the front-rear direction of the vehicle; and an outer cross member provided below the roof panel in the vehicle up-down direction and extending in the vehicle width direction, the outer cross member being joined to the roof rail at an outer end portion in the vehicle width direction, the outer cross member being made of iron, and the outer cross member being provided in the vehicle up-down direction and extending in the vehicle width direction. An inner cross member is provided above the outer cross member in the vertical direction of the vehicle, the rigidity of the inner cross member is higher than the rigidity of the roof panel, the rigidity of the inner cross member is lower than the rigidity of the outer cross member, and the inner cross member is joined to the roof panel.
