The height limiter anomaly detection method comprises the steps of monitoring a current signal when a height limiter is used, recording and generating working current data; matching the working current data with preset reference data, and obtaining a matching result according to the matching degree of the working current data and the preset reference data; and according to a matching result, preliminarily determining abnormal working current data and defining the abnormal working current data as target feature data, then judging whether the height limiter is abnormal or not based on the target feature data, and outputting a detection result. The invention further provides a safety monitoring method of the crane. The abnormity of the height limiter can be accurately monitored, and the use safety of the crane is improved.
