The invention discloses a drive-by-wire electro-hydraulic steering system with a fault tolerance function. The drive-by-wire electro-hydraulic steering system comprises a road feeling simulation assembly, a downward turning execution assembly, a hydraulic assembly and an electronic control unit (ECU). The ECU is provided with a drive-by-wire electro-hydraulic control system with a fault-tolerant function, and the drive-by-wire electro-hydraulic control system comprises a vehicle state acquisition module, a fault diagnosis module, an instruction corner generation module and a corner tracking control module. According to the steering system, on the basis of an original drive-by-wire electro-hydraulic steering system, by additionally arranging a hydraulic valve and transforming a hydraulic oil way, when a steering execution motor breaks down, normal steering can still be achieved through drive-by-wire full hydraulic pressure, and the provided control method is beneficial to improving the steering angle tracking precision in a drive-by-wire full hydraulic steering mode.
