Provided is a method for preparing an environmentally more friendly rubber composition consisting of a phenolic resin and a phenolic epoxide having sufficient performance characteristics, and in which a methylene donor that produces formaldehyde during the curing of the rubber is not utilized, such that the rubber composition has little or no formaldehyde.
