In order to improve the competitiveness of vehicle wheels made of steel or other suitable materials, in particular suitable for cold forming, compared to cast vehicle wheels made of aluminum, according to the invention the transition surface (20) is provided with a plurality of variations in the material thickness that result from the displacement of the tool during the spinning process and, as viewed in the radial direction, the transition surface (20) is provided with a plurality of variations in the material thickness that result from the displacement of the tool. The transition surface (20) achieves an undulating structure on the tool-facing surface during the spinning process. The surface provided with the wave-shaped structure may in particular form an invisible inner side of the vehicle wheel, but may also form a visible side.
