The invention relates to a capturing mechanism, in particular to a football-imitating structure space capturing mechanism which comprises a supporting base of a hexagonal structure, three connecting pieces evenly installed and fixed to the supporting base in the circumferential direction and football-imitating truss mechanical claw unit mechanisms fixed to the three connecting pieces correspondingly. The three football-imitating truss mechanical claw unit mechanisms can rotate relative to the supporting base through the connecting pieces, and when the ends, away from the supporting base, of the three football-imitating truss mechanical claw unit mechanisms are gathered, the supporting base and the three football-imitating truss mechanical claw unit mechanisms form a football shape for capturing. A driver is installed on the supporting base corresponding to each football-imitating truss mechanical gripper unit mechanism, and a connecting line is arranged between each driver and the corresponding football-imitating truss mechanical gripper unit mechanism. The method has a large envelope range and a tolerance range, and is high in adaptability to space junk which is in a suspension state and has an uncertain geometric shape.
