The invention provides an automatic lane changing method for preventing a vehicle from rear-end collision, which comprises the following steps of: firstly, judging whether the vehicle speed and the distance are too short or not by using a range radar, if a rear vehicle cannot brake within a safe distance, determining whether a side lane is safe or not by using an angle radar, and if so, actively changing the lane to the side lane; the vehicle automatically runs for 20 meters at the speed of 20 Km/h and then exits from automatic control, and a driver can take over the vehicle at any time during the period; if no safe lane exists, a driver is prompted that the rear vehicle is too close on an instrument, and a light is flashed to prompt the rear vehicle. According to the method, a longer braking distance can be provided for the rear vehicle, and serial rear-end collision accidents caused by the fact that the front vehicle collides with the front vehicle after rear-end collision can be avoided.
