The invention relates to a flexible multi-rope wave compensation platform mechanism and a compensation method. The flexible multi-rope wave compensation platform mechanism comprises a base installed on a ship or an offshore operation platform. The upper platform is movably connected with the base; the four groups of balance assemblies are arranged between the base and the upper platform and are uniformly arranged around the central point of the base, and each balance assembly comprises a main pulley located on the base, a slave pulley connected with the main pulley and a rope penetrating through the main pulley and the slave pulley and connected with the upper platform. The upper platform deviates due to wave motion, the length between the four sets of ropes and the upper platform is adjusted so that the tensioning force borne by the upper platform can be adjusted, and the upper platform can move in the direction opposite to the deviation direction so that the upper platform can be kept horizontal. Compared with the prior art, the device is diversified in compensation range, good in flexibility, simple in structure and accurate in compensation.
