The method comprises the following steps: acquiring first illumination intensity of a first vehicle in a first preset range; if it is detected that the tunnel entrance exists in front of driving of the first vehicle, first image information, collected by a vehicle-mounted camera, in the tunnel entrance and first reflection signal information collected by a vehicle-mounted radar sensor are obtained, and second illumination intensity in the tunnel entrance is determined according to the first image information and the first reflection signal information; under the condition that the absolute value of the difference value between the second illumination intensity and the first illumination intensity is larger than a first preset difference value, the first adjusting brightness of the instrument of the first vehicle is determined according to the second illumination intensity; if it is detected that the required time for the first vehicle to arrive at the tunnel entrance is smaller than or equal to the first preset time, the brightness of the instrument is adjusted to the first adjusting brightness. The problem of low driving safety caused by improper instrument brightness adjustment in the prior art is solved.
