The present disclosure provides a system and method for brake assisted vehicle turn radius reduction. A vehicle control system for reducing a turning radius of a vehicle may include a speed sensor for determining a vehicle speed; a steering angle sensor for determining a turning angle; and a controller operably coupled to the speed sensor and the steering angle sensor to: determine a sharp turn event based on the vehicle speed and the turn angle; in response to the sharp turn event, determining driving road surface information of a road surface on which the vehicle is operating; and setting a target speed of an inside rear wheel of the vehicle during a turn based on the traveling road surface information, thereby causing the determination of the sharp turn event.
