The method comprises the steps that the pressure ratio, the temperature ratio, the liquid level ratio and the concentration ratio of a methanol storage tank are obtained; generating a model according to the pressure ratio, the temperature ratio, the liquid level ratio, the concentration ratio, the weight coefficient of the pressure ratio, the weight coefficient of the temperature ratio, the weight coefficient of the liquid level ratio, the weight coefficient of the concentration ratio and a preset overall fluctuation value of the methanol storage tank, and generating a current overall fluctuation value; judging whether the current overall fluctuation value is greater than a preset overall fluctuation value or not; and if the current overall fluctuation value is larger than the preset overall fluctuation value, an alarm message of the methanol storage tank is sent to a ship control center of the methanol fuel powered ship, and a valve closing instruction of the methanol storage tank is sent to a controller. Remote monitoring and control of the methanol storage tank can be achieved, a user can check the running state of the methanol storage tank anytime and anywhere, field inspection is not needed, and the management efficiency of the methanol storage tank is improved.
