The invention provides an unmanned aerial vehicle propeller variable pitch control system and method. The system mainly comprises a variable-pitch propeller controller, a flight control computer, an engine ECU, a ground station and a variable-pitch propeller mechanism, wherein the variable-pitch propeller controller calculates a propeller pitch or a rotating speed according to information sent by the ground station or the flight control computer and controls the variable-pitch propeller mechanism to adjust the propeller pitch; the variable-pitch propeller mechanism comprises a gear motor, an absolute value encoder, a lead screw, a nut, blades and a propeller hub, the gear motor, the absolute value encoder and the lead screw are coaxially installed, and the blades rotate along with a lead screw and nut transmission mechanism in the propeller hub to achieve pitch variation. The device is simple in structure, high in reliability, good in safety, high in control precision and simple in control mode.
