Electric vehicle recharge control. An electric vehicle includes a reconfigurable energy storage system having a first sub-module and a second sub-module. The interface circuit is operable to transfer charging power from a charging station external to the electric vehicle to the reconfigurable energy storage system. The switching circuit is operable to electrically arrange the first sub-module and the second sub-module in series or in parallel. The reconfigurable energy storage systems are arranged in series and when charging power is present, the diode is operable to deliver charging power between the first sub-module and the second sub-module. The bias circuit is operable to maintain a reverse bias across the diode when the reconfigurable energy storage systems are arranged in series and no charging power.
