The invention discloses a magnetohydrodynamic propulsion device and method, and relates to the technical field of magnetohydrodynamic propulsion, the device comprises a seawater channel pipeline provided with a plurality of grooves; the shell is arranged on the outer wall of the seawater channel pipeline in a sleeving manner; the electrode is arranged in the groove; the first electromagnet is arranged in the groove, and the first electromagnet and the electrode are arranged at an interval; the relay is connected with the first electromagnet; the power supply is connected with the relay; the second electromagnet is connected with the power supply; and the third electromagnet is connected with the power supply. The device can solve the problems that an electrode of an existing magnetofluid propeller needs to be soaked in water to electrify seawater, and consequently the electrode is prone to being corroded by the seawater and pollution is generated.
