A mixed-flow water jet pump for propelling ships and other water vehicles. The jet pump may be a stationary assembly, or alternatively include in part an entry section and a flexible entry section extension that allow a trim function, and wherein the main input drive shaft does not pass through the entry section of the jet pump. The jet pump driver may include a dual input drive shaft system or a single input drive shaft system, where the dual input driveline allows delivery of greater power to the pump while maintaining reliability. The jet pump may have a stern drive or an outboard configuration using an internal combustion engine or an electric motor as the primary drive.
