The invention discloses a protection method and device for a direct-current electric propulsion system, and belongs to the technical field of ship electricity. The protection method of the direct current electric propulsion system comprises the following steps: obtaining monitoring information of the direct current electric propulsion system, and preprocessing the monitoring information to obtain fault characteristic parameters; the fault feature parameters are input into a pre-constructed feature fusion model, fault feature vectors are obtained, and the feature fusion model is used for carrying out feature fusion on time domain data and frequency domain data in the fault feature parameters; the fault feature vector is input into a pre-constructed representation learning model, an output result is input into a classifier to obtain a fault detection result, and the representation learning model is used for performing fault representation learning on the fault feature vector; and executing corresponding fault protection operation on the direct-current electric propulsion system based on a fault detection result. Through the above method, comprehensive and accurate positioning of the fault is realized, and the method has the capability of real-time response and rapid recovery.
