A vehicle and drive system includes a method of operating a vehicle. In another exemplary embodiment, a drive system of a vehicle is disclosed. The drive system includes a first sensor, a second sensor, and a processor. The first sensor is disposed at a first position of the drive system for measuring a first rotation angle. The second sensor is disposed at a second position of the drive system for measuring a second rotation angle. The processor is configured to determine a torque delivered between the first position and the second position based on a difference between the first rotational angle and the second rotational angle, and control operation of the drive system based on the torque.
