An autonomous driving apparatus (1) that automatically controls a steering and a speed of a vehicle (2) to cause the vehicle (2) to travel includes: an abnormality detection section (122) that detects at least one of an abnormality in a driving system of the vehicle (2) and an abnormality in a sensor that detects a surrounding situation when the steering and the speed of the vehicle (2) are automatically controlled; and an automatic control unit (121) that, when the abnormality detection unit detects the abnormality, switches the automatic control of the speed to the manual control in which the speed is controlled by the operation of the driver, and that continues the automatic control of the steering. A predetermined waiting time has elapsed from the time at which the automatic control of the speed is switched to the manual control.
