The invention relates to a method for controlling at least one rotor (5) of an aircraft (1), in which the rotor (5) is configured to compensate or at least reduce a torque acting on the aircraft (1), the rotor (5) having a shroud (15), and in which the rotational speed of the rotor and the angle of attack of at least one rotor blade (20) of the rotor are adjustable with respect to the rotor (5), the invention relates to a method for controlling a rotor (5) of an aircraft (1), in particular adjustable independently of another rotor (3) provided on the aircraft (1), comprising the steps of: defining (51) at least a first pair of operating parameter values and at least a second pair of operating parameter values of the rotor (5), respectively specifying different rotational speeds and angles of attack of the rotor at the same thrust value thus achieved; determining (52) a first acoustic index of the first pair of operating parameter values and a second acoustic index of the second pair of operating parameter values, wherein the determining comprises measuring an acoustic value of the rotor (5) in the test device; storing (53) the first sound index and the second sound index and assigning them to respective pairs of operating parameter values; and controlling (54), during operation of the aircraft (1), the rotor (5) according to the first or second pair of operating parameter values with reference to the allocation stored in step c) and on the basis of at least the first or second sound index to be selectively implemented.
