A system for modeling rail buckling risk in a railway infrastructure is presented. The system may receive a large amount of data related to the railway track and/or railway operation, and weight the data using a specially designed weighting factor, which may be unique for each data type. The weighted data may be converted via a dedicated algorithm to generate a location score reflecting the risk that is isolated for a particular region. The system may further utilize an additional dedicated algorithm to clarify how such isolated risks may be extrapolated from one location to another. The system can implement a multi-tier approach that formulates one or more tier risk models and aggregates such models into a primary risk model that can more accurately predict rail buckling risk in a railway track.
