The invention relates to a method for charging a traction battery (10) of an electrically drivable vehicle (20), such a vehicle (20) and a charging device (80) corresponding to such a vehicle (20). The method comprises the steps of: receiving a signal representative of a request to charge a traction battery (10) of a vehicle (20) using a first charging mode, the loss power related to the charging power supplied to the vehicle (20) from outside the vehicle (20) is lower in the first charging mode than in a second charging mode which is alternative for charging the traction battery (10); determining whether a predefined boundary condition for applying the first charging mode is satisfied; and if the predefined boundary condition is met, charging the traction battery (10) in a first charging mode and otherwise in a second charging mode, the charging power provided in the first charging mode and in the second charging mode being each provided via a first electrical line (30).
