The invention discloses a power grid line fault detection method and system, and relates to the technical field of power operation. The method comprises the following steps: acquiring input detection data, and identifying a to-be-detected power grid and to-be-detected equipment based on the detection data; screening a target unmanned aerial vehicle based on the detection data in combination with an unmanned aerial vehicle library, and controlling the target unmanned aerial vehicle to detect a to-be-detected power grid and to-be-detected equipment in the detection data; wherein measurement data of a measurement point at the to-be-detected equipment is acquired based on the target unmanned aerial vehicle, and fault analysis is performed based on the measurement data to output a first detection result; and acquiring a line detection image of the to-be-detected power grid based on the target unmanned aerial vehicle, and performing fault analysis based on the line detection image to output a second detection result. Point position line fault detection operation can be carried out by means of the unmanned aerial vehicle, so that the laying cost of the detection line is reduced, the fault can be timely and effectively identified, and the fault processing efficiency is improved.
