The invention comprises a device and a method for dynamically adapting an operating unit of a vehicle to a current functional state of a vehicle function of the vehicle. The device comprises: a control unit configured to determine a functional range of the vehicle; and determining an operating parameter of the vehicle that may affect the availability of at least one vehicle function that falls within the determined range of functions of the vehicle. The control unit is also configured to determine a current functional state of the operating unit from the determined functional range and the operating parameter. And controls the operating unit such that the determined functional state can be output by the operating unit.
