The invention relates to a semiconductor fuse device (200) for safely disconnecting an electrical appliance (112) from a power supply (111) of a battery-powered vehicle. The semiconductor safety device (200) comprises at least one semiconductor switching element (211) which can be switched between the power supply (111) and the electric equipment (112). The semiconductor switch element (211) is provided with a gate control interface (212) used for controlling the semiconductor switch element (211) to be switched on and switched off; a drive circuit (221) designed to apply a drive voltage (223) to the gate control interface (212) of the at least one semiconductor switching element (211), which drive voltage is less than a predetermined gate threshold voltage (501) of the semiconductor switching element (211); a measurement circuit (222) designed to determine a gate charge at the gate control interface (212); and a controller (220) designed to detect a drift of the gate threshold voltage (501) based on the gate charge and to indicate a fault (501) of the at least one semiconductor switching element (211) when the gate threshold voltage drift is detected.
