A driving light system for a vehicle, comprising: an array of lighting modules for illuminating a lighting area in front of the vehicle, each module comprising: a light emitting unit for emitting a light beam along a light path to illuminate a portion of the lighting area; and a directional light sensor unit adapted to detect reflected light of the reflective surface in the beam path; and at least one controller for automatically controlling the brightness of each emitted light beam according to the light detected by the one or more directional light sensors.
