The invention relates to a wheel disc for a disc wheel, in particular for a commercial vehicle, having an at least substantially radially extending hub connection flange (11) and having a substantially cylindrical disc rim (13) that can be connected to a rim (14), the wheel disc has a transition region (16) extending between the disc rim (13) and the hub connection flange (11). The aim of the invention is to improve such a wheel disc and a disc wheel provided with such a wheel disc in such a way that, on the one hand, the lowest possible weight of the wheel can be achieved and, on the other hand, the strength requirements proposed for the wheel disc or a disc wheel provided with such a wheel disc can be reliably met. According to the invention, the transition region (16) is provided with ventilation holes (17) distributed over the circumference, the ventilation holes (17) extending in the radial direction from a first inner pitch circle (18) located closer to the connecting flange (11) to a second outer pitch circle (19) located closer to the disk rim (13) of the disk, the transition region (16) has a material thickness (DA) in a radial cross-section in a first cross-sectional region (24) extending between the hub connection flange (11) and the radially inner first pitch circle (18), which material thickness (DA) is reduced by at least 30% compared to a material thickness (DN) of the hub connection flange (11); and/or wherein the ventilation holes (17) have a hole region having a hole width (b) which increases in the circumferential direction of the disc from a radially inner first pitch circle (18) towards a radially outer second pitch circle (19). According to the wheel disc of the invention, the specific design of the wheel disc is developed by means of a fine finite element method, which is characterized by a particularly advantageous material thickness distribution of the disc wall on one hand and by a specific design and arrangement of ventilation holes provided in the transition region between the hub connection flange of the wheel disc and the disc rim on the other hand.
