The invention relates to a metal element, a joint structure, a joint, and a method for manufacturing the joint. Provided is an element that can be firmly bonded to a metal plate even if a shape that is difficult to process (a shape required for bonding) is not imparted in advance. The element (1) has a flange-like portion (2) and a cylindrical portion (3) having a smaller diameter than the flange-like portion (2). Furthermore, in a state in which a cylindrical portion (3) is inserted into a through-hole (12) formed in a metal plate (11), pressure is applied in the axial direction, thereby causing the metal plate (11) to deform and flow in the compression direction by means of the flange-shaped portion (2), and causing the tip edge portion of the cylindrical portion (3) to deform so as to expand the diameter so as to block the deformed and flowing metal. Thus, the element (1) can be bonded to the metal plate (11) made of metal.
