Various example embodiments are generally directed to charging an electrical device. An apparatus may include means for determining a target amount of energy to charge an electrical device; means for receiving a charging report associated with a current reporting interval from the charging station; means for estimating a remaining charging time based at least on a charging report associated with a current report interval and a target amount of energy; means for setting a maximum charging rate for a subsequent report interval in response to determining that the remaining charging time is less than or equal to a threshold; and means for sending an indication of the maximum charging rate to the charging station.
