The method comprises the following steps: acquiring the current cell temperature, the current internal voltage, the current external charging voltage and the current charging current of the lithium battery; based on the current cell temperature, the current internal voltage, the current external charging voltage and the current charging current, judging whether the lithium battery meets a preset current-limiting charging condition or not; and if the lithium battery meets the preset current-limiting charging condition, carrying out current-limiting charging on the lithium battery based on a preset current-limiting charging strategy. Therefore, according to the current-limiting charging method, the lithium battery can be charged by limiting the charging current when the charging voltage of the lithium battery is relatively high or the charging current is relatively large, lithium separation or over-temperature of the lithium battery can be prevented, and meanwhile, an adaptive current-limiting charging control strategy of the lithium battery is designed aiming at the problem of long charging time caused by current-limiting charging; and therefore, the lithium battery still has a relatively high charging rate.
