The invention provides a vehicle differential protection method and system, electronic equipment and a readable storage medium, and relates to the technical field of driving control. The method comprises the steps that the wheel speed difference change rate of a first side wheel and a second side wheel of a target vehicle within a target duration is determined through a brake control unit; wherein the first side wheel and the second side wheel are side wheels which are located on different side edges of the target vehicle and are connected through a common transmission mechanism; sending a first torque reduction request to a motor control unit based on the wheel speed difference change rate through a brake control unit; controlling a power motor to reduce the motor torque based on the first torque reduction request through a motor control unit; the transmission mechanism comprises a differential mechanism, and the power motor is connected with the differential mechanism and provides power for the differential mechanism based on control of the motor control unit. The change rate of the speed difference of the wheels on the two sides is detected to serve as a trigger signal of a differential protection program, the trend of abnormal conditions such as slipping can be recognized earlier, and therefore the timeliness of protecting the differential is effectively improved.
