The invention provides a road structure identification method for automatic driving. The method comprises the steps of obtaining a starting point and a destination of automatic driving; a global path and associated map information are obtained based on the starting point and the destination, the global path comprises a plurality of path points, and the map information comprises the road width and floor information of the position where each path point is located; identifying a road structure based on the global path and the map information, wherein the road structure comprises curve information, width information and ramp information of each road section of the global path; and assisting automatic driving from the starting point to the destination based on the identified road structure. The invention further provides an associated road structure recognition system for automatic driving.
